Any good ideas for fund raising for the Red Cross?

I feel the need to do something. Would a Mardi Gras party, where we supply food and drink and beads to our friends, and collect donations for the Red Cross and the Humane Society be too tacky or too sad? What else could we do?

We all need to come together like we did after 9/11 - when there were little kids in the neighborhood with lemonade stands raising money.

1. I'm going to hit eBay...

I'm one of the working poor and don't have any money on hand to send, so I'm putting up some collectibles for sale with proceeds to got to the RC.

I think such a fundraiser would be fine -- a reminder of what we lost and need to gain back. :)
