How much water poured over the levees? THIS MUCH ====> |
|
It has been reported that the level of Lake Pontchartrain has dropped 2 feet. The lake is 630 square miles in area.
That means that 35,126,784,000 cubic feet of water have flooded into the city. :wow:
for a comparison...
if the BOTH of the towers of the former WTC in NYC were hollow and filled with water they would hold 136,800,000 cu ft. So it would take 514 towers full of water to equal what has been dumped over those levees. :wow:

I may have to move... I'd be flooded in any hurricane, but a Cat 3 would probably wipe me out http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=169x4268

Hofstra should be high enough to stay dry... a Cat 4 would just about reach the Southern State Pky
