People from New Orleans..... |
|
If you are able to get on the board from wherever you are...
What part of town do you live in and do you know the status of your area?
My youngest sister, her husband and two kids got out of Belle Chasse early Sunday morning and is held up in Memphis with my mother. I talked with her on Monday evening and she said Belle Chasse hadn't had much flooding, but no one has been allowed past the Belle Chasse tunnel. They are hopeful, but are ready for the worse scenario.
My son, his wife and their three kids got out of Belle Chasse Sunday also but I haven't been able to reach him since Sunday.

word from his neighbor is that all trees are gone houses are flooded about 1 ft above fist floor. My friends house seems to have escaped structural damage from falling trees/wind.

got into BC mid MOnday and he told them there was water in the street but from what he could see there wasn't any water in the houses yet. He said a lot of trees were down though. Belle Chasse is on the west bank, SE of New Orleans. I'm sure they are safe from the recent compromises in the levee but they are within 1/8 of a mile from the Mississippi.
