My caller ID just said "New Orleans, Louisiana."

Eek! Thought it was a call from the great beyond. Gave me goose bumps, then I realized it was my daughter calling on her boyfriend's cell phone. They are okay and evacuated but he and his family have lost their houses and businesses. He has pretty much the clothes on his back. However, they are alive and well and that is much more than many others.

I can hardly stand to watch the coverage anymore. The human toll is just unimaginable but I also keep thinking about all those pets who were left behind in the houses with the owners planning to come back in a couple of days and get them. They will just slowly starve to death because they can't open a door or window and get out. And I am sure there are plenty of people in those houses too. I am so glad we went in March and saw it again before this.
