Do filled, un-vented gas cans, left out in the summer sun explode?? |
|
Yes, stupid question to some, but unfortunately not for me. Someone told me this and since we have these type and they were just filled tonight, I'd really like to know how to store these correctly.
First.. please educate me. Okay.. now you can laugh at my ignorance.

1. I don't think that gas will explode..... |
|
Unless it vaporizes.
That's why you can park your car, with a full tank of gas, in direct sunlight on a 100 degree day, and not have to worry about it blowing up.

I've seen that before, but I've never seen one explode.

That's one of the dumbest old wive's tales I've heard.
No, it won't explode, unless the outside temperature and weather conditions were so awful that all of humanity would already be dead, and so no one would be left alive to care if a gas can exploded because of sunlight.

5. LOL.... I had a sneaking suspicion, but then |

I didn't fare rather well in science as a kid. When my friend said this to me, it was the first time I ever heard such a thing. My memory is good, so that's where the sneaking suspicion came into play.
