Skinny Puppy DVD Available for Preorder - Contains Documentary About Iraq

If you don't already know I'm a pretty big fan of this band and they've really been slamming Bush especially on their last tour. Anyway, I talked about this live DVD a few weeks ago because along with the live footage it also contains some extras such as this documentary. The DVD is now available for preorder for anyone who wants to get it. Here's some info about the documentary about Iraq.

"Also included is a film by William Morrisson who hit the road in America and Europe to shoot this documentary called "Information Warfare". This documentary addresses the key issue behind the project. The butal result of American foreign policy. William visited former Attorney General Ramsey Clark in N.Y.C., he travelled to Capitol Hill in Washington to speak with the Gulf War Veterans resource centre and enlisted the help of Iraqi filmmaker Duraid Mujanim who travelled to Iraq with camera's after the recent occupation began. He travelled to Paris to interview Medicine Sans Frontiers and Kutna Hora near Prague to shoot the famous Bone Church at Sedlec. And finally there are a few more film segments which showcase footage of two more legendary Puppy tours. "Too Dark Park" and "Last Rights". These shows were filmed in 16mm by Jim Vanbebber (Charlie's Family and "Spasmolytic" video clip)."

4. They Reformed Last Year

They put on several shows and got boycotted by PABAAH because of an anti-Bush stunt they pulled. They released an album called The Greater Wrong of the Right. There was also a music video they made that really divided their audience. Because of some criticisms on the sound of the album in a chat room discussion they did something a little tongue in cheek with breakdancers and some fans flipped.

6. Well, They're Different

In 1984 they had albums like Remission and Bites. Over the years they've done a lot of different stuff. When they broke up in the mid 90's they did some sideprojects. Cevin Key did Download and other electronic groups. oGre went on to do his Ohgr project which was kind of like electronic industrial pop. When they reformed SP they melded those sounds of thier sideprojects together and alienated a lot of people who were expecting TDP and LR era stuff. Basically, the group said they were starting over and they're doing something that's a little more pop oriented which is what they consider Remission to be.

10. Wikipedia Has A Decent Article

If you want to see their best music videos you won't find them on that DVD that's listed. Their best video material was made as backing tapes for the shows. The Too Dark Park tour had these really cool backing videos composed of horror movie footage. Their entertaining to watch just by themselves. A few years back someone called Dash got those videos without sound and added the actual tracks to the videos. You can find them on some of the file sharing networks.

Also, this group was a big inspiration for NIN. In an interview with Spin Trent actually admitted that an early demo of Down In It was actually a SP song, Dig It, sped up. He actually made an original song out of it on Pretty Hate Machine but a lot of those diehard Industrial fans just can't get over it.
