How much of the $3.00 a gallon gasoline can we blame on Bush? |
|
In 99, when gas was $1.60 a gallon and he was gearing up for his run for President, he advised against Clinton going into the reserves. He said that if it was him, he would "jawbone" the saudi's, and eliminate the Federal gas tax, which is about 20 cents a gallon.
Well, the jawboning worked, after gas had risen to 2.50 a gallon. It worked for about a month. Now, the gas tax is being used to fund the pork laden highway bill.
So, now Bush has decided to tap the reserves, which would have been understandable about a year ago, because when Clinton did it, gas went down to just over a dollar a gallon. PRICE CONTROL was what it was about.
I wonder if he could eliminate the federal gas tax for a short time, like they did in Florida last year. Perhaps they should, so that the working person can afford to go to work.

Bush doesn't give a shit about the working person.
He needs to stop the gouging at the top levels of the oil industry. I'd guess it's a safe bet that they aren't losing one cent of profit out of all this. Clinton would have capped gas prices already, Bush will do nothing.
