With no Top 10 Conservative Idiots this Mon. (holiday) let's make our own
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 11:51 AM by LynneSin
Name the person and the reason for the nomination

#1: ) George W. Bush - Hell, I'd take up all the bandwidth for all he has done wrong but in a nutshell for not showing up immediately after the hurricane hit and doing all in your power to rescue people before death overtook them with disease, dehydration and starvation.
#2: ) Trent Lott, Thad Cochran, Jeff Sessions, Richard Shelby & David Vitters - That's YOUR STATES in ruins - why the hell are you out there demanding help immediately with more NG and other help. Kudos to Mary Landrieu for trying although maybe she should suck up a little bit less to Bush
#3: ) Free Republic - Many of them have serious care about what is happening in that region. But the fact that they foster such hatred towards anything that isn't "White like me" to the point of complaining that Government housing was built too strong is proof that you guys care nothing about yourselves.

That's my start - I know there are many many more - who would you like on the list!

20. This does deserve another look
Thanks, primate1!

I fear this situation will get more racialized, and of course Bush will do his part. His best bet right now is to divide and conquer the country and hope we don't notice $3+ gas, Rovegate, the Mess'o'potamia, and so on.

2. 4. Chertoff 5. Cheney and Condi.
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 11:57 AM by Gormy Cuss
4. Chertoff, lacking any real excuse for the exposure of the house of cards known as Homeland Security, blames the victims for 'choosing' to stay after being told to evacuation. Bonus points for referring to it as hurricane 'Katerina.'

5. Cheney for staying the course with his vacation in Wyoming (has he appeared on camera or delivered any public condolence by phone call? Anything?) Condi for keeping to her very public social agenda, apparently in a effort to show that we can't let the terrorists (oops, scratch that, I meant "Mother Nature") win.

edited for spelling. I can't type when I'm ticked off.

Former real estate attorney and lawyer for an Arabian horse group that was fired for incompetence somehow got to lead FEMA despite having ZERO experience.

4. Don't forget CondImelda!
CondImelda shops for shoes and goes to musicals while New Orleans drowns.

God I wish I knew where she was staying here, so we could have a protest.

5. Dennis Hasert for questioning whether we should rebuild New Orleans
That city has been around since before the Revolution. Maybe if we properly provided the funds needed to upgrade the Levee as requested we wouldn't be here today with all this heartache!

6. If I may: a submission from abroad
Stephan Eisel, the conservative Bundestag candidate for the district around Bonn, used the German museum for politic history for a campaign-op: under the eyes of the press, he donated a historic document: the notice by the (then really democratic)GDR's head of Parliament to inform the Chancellor about the dissolution of the GDR.

The question raises, but how did a historic document, clearly owned by the Federal Republic, end up in Eisel's possession?

Surely nobody would suggest that he stole it during his time in a leading position in the Federal chancellery.

14. Another submission from abroad
Professor Hannes Hólsteinn Gissurarson: "The Government Budget has a surplus; lets lower taxes." Yes, lets lower taxes while just about every department and institution in the country is screaming out for more funding.
Hospitals have to overwork their doctors, close departments, cut treatments and send seriously sick people home and are still WAY over budget.
University of ICeland had to increase their enrollment fee's and restrict the number of new students in just about every department.
The war on drugs is long since lost since no plan nor adequate fundings exist to enforce it.
Just about every county is in serious dept.
The Human Rights Office is supported by corporate donations because the government has discontinued it's funding.
All Mental Health Clinics are over-packed and have waiting lists months and even years long.
Etc.
Etc.
& Etc.

7. I was already working on the "Katrina and the Waves Edition"
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 01:54 PM by KamaAina
Sorry, but "Assclown" Mike Brown displaces ** from the top slot for being blissfully unaware that some 15,000 people were at the Convention Center yesterday, even though there were references to evacuations there on the Internets as early as Wednesday morning.

Bill O'Reilly: Did you know Fats Domino was a criminal? Or that in New Orleans, three-month-old babies have records as long as your arm (or at least theirs)? It's true! -- or at least as true as anything else O'Really? ever says. He said, out loud, in public, that "everyone who stayed behind wanted to participate" in the looting.

Associated Press: "Finders keepers, looters black" is apparently the new motto at the once-proud wire service, where a photo of Afican Americans with goods that didn't belong to them is labeled "looters", while a white person, also with goods not beloging to him, is said to have "found" the suppplies.

Jacqueline Clarkson: I've been waiting for over a decade to give a shoutout to the prissy little pill who, thanks to a Texas-size feat of gerrymandering, represents the French Quarter and adjacent areas on the N.O. City Council, although her political base is across the Mississippi on the largely white, conservative West Bank. She finally achieved her lifelong dream of making the national headlines, screeching "The French Quarter is under attack!" Actually, Jackie, many other areas were indeed under attack, such as the hospitals -- but those areas have black people in them, so you couldn't find them even with a GPS system. The Quarter, by contrast, was experiencing looting: people breaking into to deserted stores and stealing stuff. Then again, what can one expect from a woman who ran in a runoff election against an openly gay candidate with the slogan, "Traditional Values Make The Difference". (Expurgated translation: Don't vote for the other guy because he's gay.) Disclaimer: As you might have guessed, I worked on the campaign of her opponent, Larry Bagneris Jr., who is one of the most inspiring political speakers I have ever heard and who I truly, sincerely hope is okay.

edit: difference between looting and "attack"; spelling, bolding

9. George "We take care of our own" Bush
We'll hear charges from the Right that the international community hasn't stepped up to help the U.S. Neal Cavuto has alread done so. But here's the reality:

The State Department said offers so far had come from Belgium, Canada, Russia, Japan, France, Germany, Britain, China, Australia, Jamaica, Honduras, Greece, Venezuela, the Organization of American States, NATO, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, South Korea, Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

The United Nations has offered to coordinate the effort.

Note that Bush rejected all such help yesterday morning, though apparently the State Department has decided to bypass Bush's "America takes care of its own!" macho talk and actually accept the aid. Thankfully, Rice finally decided to get back to work in lieu of more thousand-dollar shoe-buying sprees in New York.

10. Crap! I forgot Repent America
a Philly-based fundie outfit that claims that Jeezuss struck down N.O. because Southern Decadence, a gay festival, was scheduled there this weekend.

As the astute Misunderestimator pointed out, "Wouldn't that actually be saving gays by having it happen before they got there?"

Obviously Repent America is not representative of the whole city. I understand that your activists get right up in their faces whenever they try to disrupt Pride or whatever.
