You're on your own, Britain's victims told
British families trapped in New Orleans last night claimed that US authorities had refused to evacuate them as Hurricane Katrina approached the city.

Although assistance was offered to US residents, (billyskank: I assume that means rich white US residents) British nationals were told they would have to fend for themselves. According to those who remain stranded in the stricken city, police had visited hotels and guest houses on the eve of the hurricane offering to evacuate Americans, but not Britons.

The order meant UK holidaymakers without cars were left helpless in the face of the hurricane. Some have been trapped in hotels and guest houses since the hurricane struck at 7am local time last Monday.

One family from Liverpool, trapped in a flooded section of the city, told relatives yesterday of their bewilderment when they realised US citizens would be offered preferential treatment.

3. Yes, he probably will.
Sigh. And when you start bombing Iran, I expect there will be a token presence of a dozen or so RAF Tornado bombers, for the sake of the alliance. :(

4. It's like, who DO they care about?
I'm starting to think it's like the wise guys in the film Goodfellas. Total sociopaths with no empathy or conscience whatsoever. Sure, they act as if they love each other at least, but when needs must they'll even sell each other out in a heartbeat to save themselves. So it is with the rich elite. They seem to be once nice friendly club, but remember Bush's "Ken Lay who?" act when it became politically inconvenient to know him. That's the kind of people we have leading us now.
:scared:
