I have the greatest daughter

My daughter is 5 years old and since I have been watching the news a lot since Hurricane Katrina hit, we have had many conversations on hurricanes in general and the horrible aftermath of this one. I did this with her when the tsunami hit last winter and I realized then that I have been underestimating her ability to understand such things.

The other day she said "Momma, we should tell people that they (the victims) need our help." I responded by saying "that's a great idea Abby, how should we do that?". She thought long and hard and said "I know! We'll call everyone we know on the telephone and say people need our help and if they say no, we'll say ok, but if they say yes, we'll say ok then, let's go help!"

She has already collected the toys from her room that she wants to give the kids.

I'm very proud of her.

I'm in tears from reading the warm responses to my brag thread.

I don't know what I did to deserve that little girl but I swear she has an old soul. She gives me hope for the future as well. I wish I could take full credit for her but part of me truly believes she was destined to be who she is regardless.

I'm going to read this thread to her tomorrow. It'll bring a huge smile to her face.
