Mary "Upper Buttercup" Landrieu against George "The Prince of Tides" Bush |
|
Who wins? I say that Mary Landrieu has a rare opportunity here to take the moral high ground and respresent the real anger that is seething in Louisianians today. She has something that Cindy Sheehan has: legitimacy. Mary tried to play nice with Bush, but it wasn't enough. In the end, she's going to do whatever it takes to bring attention to the plight in her state.
Could Landrieu be the catalyst that unbottles the Democratic anger and sets the party back into a role of leadership that will take compassion and sacrifice away from the churches and put it in the government where it belongs?

3. I'm gaining so much more respect for Mary |

I see her as the only senator from that region who is really fighting the bureaucracy (David Vitters is starting to get angry too). I know there are those who are critical because she was nice to Bush but geez, when this first happened we all assumed that help would come right away and with your federal government being your best hope you got to do a little bit of the niceties. But when the Bush government failed her homestate, Mary came out battling.
Go Mary!
