Outrage fatigue exists.
I know it does, because I've finally reached that point with these bastards. I'm not surprised anymore when Too Stupid To Be President takes a month-long vacation while there's a Category 5 hurricane poised to hit possibly the nation's most vulnerable city. I'm not stunned anymore when I see photos of the "frat boy pranks" in "Club Gitmo". I can't even get myself beyond an "I'm gonna puke" feeling when I realize that Dipshit gets to nominate a second Supreme Court Justice, and that the second one will no doubt be even crazier than the first one.

As the bodies pile up in Iraq, as the crimes pile up at home, as entirely justifiable hatred for American policies build up around the world, and as we see the direct result of the Idiot in Chief's tax cuts at work in Louisiana and Mississippi, more than anything else I become disgusted with my own inaction, as if I actually had a chance to make a difference now.

I think it might have been the man on CNN, talking about how his wife had to ask him to let her float away. "You can't hold me. Take care of the kids and grandkids," he remembered her saying. I put 2 and 2 together, and there were four lights. Bush's tax cuts demanded spending reductions, and one of the "casualties" was that NO levee. It broke, and so did the city of New Orleans. My mind took me back to Fahrenheit 9/11, with the young black man in Flint, Michigan. He saw video of bombed out buildings in Iraq, and his first thought was, "Man, there are buildings in Flint that look like that, and we ain't been in a war." I cried, and that's not something I do very often.

I'm sick of these criminal fuckers. Our President's very personality is characterized by a distinct indifference toward human life. His "compassion", the very trait that was advertised above all in the 2000 campaign, has been reduced to staged photo ops, to playing politics with the lives of poor Americans. Every day brings a new crime, more handouts to the rich, more rumor of the location of the next military misadventure, or a new boogeyman coming into the picture.

But what gets me above all, these days, is the fact that I'm not surprised, angered, or frustrated by this shit anymore. Just another crime. More bodies piled up. Another reason to give these people the frog march.

Fuck Bush.

7. Thanks
Things will change when we make them change. Fortunately, it would appear that a lot of people are pissed off about Boy King's little Emperor Nero act as New Orleans sank, so that may be sooner than we might think...

8. Damn right...v.v
*hugs* Taking a break is good.
The first few days I found myself unable to eat--it tasted like wet paper, because I knew someone was dying without...

If the leaders of the country had empathy, no way would ANY of us be in this mess.

4. Indeed
I rented two movies tonight--purely escapist horror flicks. I'm not going to click on any threads that are obviously political/bad news/flamefests/etc. I need a break from it all.

I spent tonight watching Comedy Central - now I'm looking for new music for my podcast. Anything to keep bad news at bay right now.

6. Me, too, Buffy. I think it's just a good thing that the sun will rise
in just a few hours.

We're going to Evergreen Aviation tomorrow in McMinnville, Oregon, to see the "Spruce Goose." I hope my four-year-old grandson doesn't notice that Grandma is pretty depressed about things that are happening in the country.

I'm trying to shield him from some of this. We watched "Sinbad" for the umteenth time tonight and I kept away from all of the cable news.

30. I checked out a couple of FICTION books from the library . . .
Gasp! No political books this time.

I'm just so tired of it all. It's exhausting, mentally & physically. I've also limited my DU time, as I walk away POd at the world - especially the stupid sheeple that blithely go about their lives, ignorant & uncaring about the horrors bushco is inflicting on millions & millions of people around the world.

I also think a bottle of wine might be in order for my laborless Labor Day.

9. Isn't it eerie though that everytime he takes a month off
something really bad happens? Although I can't remember if he took a month off last year so maybe my analysis is incorrect. But I think, just to be on the safe side, he sould never go on vacation again.

Wasn't it during an August 'vacation' that the shuttle exploded while he was at the 'ranch'? I think it was.

He always meets with with one of the Saudis at his ranch during the August vacation. He has not met with a Saudi in the White House yet, has he?

And Lord, after reading about John Roberts this morning, on top of everything else, am I tempted right now.

But, I shant. If you moderate, don't drink. If you drink, don't moderate. Or something like that.

I had to step away for the PC yesterday and take a time out. I didn't sleep at all the night before; had myself worked into a fit of outrage that was making me ill.

So I spent some time with my kids and watched "Shaun of the Dead" last night.

I feel much better today, and was NOT surprised to hear Roberts has been nominated as CJ. I was expecting it.

Although I had a feeling Bush would do this. He's a megalomaniac, and thinks he can do anything. He's urging Roberts be confirmed before October 3rd.

with similar indifference had the wherewithal to use the weapons used against them - The Guillotine.

My outrage is so high, and has been so for five years, that seeing a few wealthy corprocrats without heads would not bother me a bit.

I can speculate as to whose head should be first.

27. Is this what they want?
I know that question doesn't change the fact that most of us are very exhausted by the continual outrages of this admin. Especially those of us who are so aware of their misdoings. Is that what they are going for though? God knows I expect this shit from them at every turn, but i am tired of their inhumane actions. I think I am equally tired of the response that the nation has. One of apathy for the most part, I am exhausted with the apathy and laziness of my countrymen. I hope this causes mass protests, we better be seeing them soon, I hold much hope for the marches on the 24th. Because if the populace does nothing after this, i may go mad....

35. I honestly can't answer that question.
Maybe this is what they want - an opposition so widely spread they can't rally around a single issue. It's hard to say, and there certainly is a hell of a lot to protest.

has damaged me emotionally and psychologically. The people in my 'real life' who isolate themselves from politics and all the 'bad news' can't stand my company - I'm a 'downer', I'm "no fun". What can I say - I barely feel anything anymore. If it weren't for DU, I would have no one to communicate with.
