1. good morning
sorry to hear that you are not off today - but I am neither (we have no holiday today though). But it would really suck if I had to work on a holiday x(

2. Good(ish) morning Clint.
No holiday over here :(

May I ask what Labor Day marks? We don't have one in Merry England?

Hope that your day at work is tolerable. :hi:

5. Hello, TJ!!!
Labor Day is just a day that the government made a holiday so that they could have a three day weekend at the end of summer. It's like one of the most insignificant holidays we have.

7. At least they invented a name for it
Last Monday was "late summer bank holiday" in England.

The only ones which we get that actually mean something are Christmas day, Boxing day, New Year's Day, Good Friday, and Easter Monday - May Day is supposed to be the workers' day but we don't even get that on 1 May (first Monday in May). There has been lobbying to get St. George's Day (he's the patron Saint of England) but thus far to no avail.

10. House cleaning!
The place is in dire need of major cleaning. Throw out the trash, mop and steam clean the floors, clean the litter boxes, change the water in the fish bowls, etc. Whew, I'm tired before I've even begun :)

Hope it's not too busy for you at work today.

9. Hey, Hey Buffy!
I love working in retail...and I don't mind working the holidays. But I DO wish we got more of them off! I manage a furniture and accessories store. I can make your house all pretty inside!

12. That sounds nice
If I had the money I'd gut my bedroom (save for the chaise lounge and glider-rocker) and buy all new furniture. Everything I have is either ancient and behemouth or that cheesy particle-board junk. I need a quality set that will give me a good amount of storage space, plus lots of room for my books without taking up every inch of my room.

13. I hear ya, Sister!
I'd like to redo our bedroom also so that everything matches. I don't have the cash for it either.
