1. Yah I saw it last night finally
At the urging of a few friends. . . It was indeed a hoot funnier than I expected. . . . with the ending making it even more worth my time :).

2. Dare I ask...what was so hillarious about it?
Share more about that, for those who doubt its hillarity.

3. exactly
"funny" is a very personal thing. I think it looks pretty stupid myself, kind of cringe-inducing in the way that certain sitcoms are, where they telegraph the joke a good 30 seconds before they do it, and it's going to be all about some character humiliating the crap out of themselves accidentally and winding up embarrassed? i hate that shit.

4. Alright, I confess, it's the premise that bugs me.
How is a 40 year old virgin funny? No, really, in what ways is that idea made into something funny in the film?

5. I'm like crispini
I usually don't like stories based on characters humiliating themselves, like a lot of Ben Stiller's work for instance. That stuff is just wince-inducing for me.

But I'm not getting that vibe here, for some reason. Perhaps someone who has seen the movie will enlighten us?

6. Well, yeah, I'll suspend final judgment until I actually see it,
I guess, but--I just don't want to.
