Jazz Lovers! Help save WWOZ!
WWOZ, New Orleans' Jazz community radon station, is in my opinion the finest jazz station on the dial and the internet. It's all Jazz, all the time; the station and many of the hosts are integral parts of the NOLA jazz community. The station, of course, is flooded and no longer on the air. This weekend they were able to establish an online stream With the help of WFMU, a community station in Hoboken, NJ (props to them!) as the first step in getting back, and getting the jazz community back in some form.

Please go to http://www.wwoz.org/ to check out the situation, log onto the WWOZ in Exile Stream and support jazz and community radio

4. The same
She's been in The Continental Drifters (w/ Peter Hosapple of The db's and Viki Peterson of The Bangles) for most of the 90's; she's become a helluva singer.

2. I know a guy who used to be on the Jazz Fest/'OZ board
the N.O. Jazz and Heritage Foundation, best known for putting on Jazz Fest, also operates WWOZ.

Michael Bagneris is now an Orleans Parish judge. I've been trying to figure out where he might have bugged out to, so I can get with him and brainstorm like we used to do when I worked on his Congressional campaign in '92 (?). The only relative I can think of who lives elsewhere is cousin Vernel in NYC, kinda far to drive when you thought it was only gonna be for a weekend :(

And yes, WFMU is the shiznit. It's one of the few free-form stations left, where the jock actually gets to play what s/he feels, instead of being shackled by a playlist.
