Jessica Simpson Shies Away from Christian Roots
From
http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2005-09-06/#2

Blonde bombshell Jessica Simpson has abandoned her strict Christian upbringing, admitting she rarely goes to church or reads the bible anymore. The Dukes Of Hazzard star launched her career on the Christian music circuit - backed by her Baptist minister father Joe - and famously refused to have sex before marrying husband Nick Lachey. But her current Hollywood lifestyle has little in common with her Southern Baptist childhood. She says, "Me and my family got out of that and came to LA. To see all forms of meditation and prayer made me less judgmental."

26. When her career is in a slump, she'll do Playboy.
No reason for her to do that magazine now.

"Words Americans should avoid saying to Australasians

Root is an offensive Australian slang verb meaning ``have sexual intercourse with''. Announcing to an Australian that you ``are a cheerleader, so you don't see many football games because you are in the stands rooting'' will give a misleading impression about your devotion to the team."

I wish more evangelical Christians would shy away from their religion and become "less judgmental." Hope she does well by it.

12. I doubt she ever was a Christian
that wholesome label did help her career, but when it became an inconvenience, it gets dropped like a hot potato. The thing is that if you are a "real" Christian, for lack of a better term, you never "get out of that." At least, that is what Southern Baptist believe.

17. I've read in several interviews/profiles that her BREASTS
got her flak from those moran Xian labels. Her BREASTS. She developed early, and they are real and kinda big for a girl her size.

SWear to god!

And, her Dad gives me the creepy vibes... ex-youth minister, too....

on so much about his daughter's sexuality.
He is a first class creep.

Not about her, but about what she "used to" believe being hot air. On edit, I am not sure what her beliefs were/are, and you have every right to think she was taught nonsense, but I hope it wasn't a blanket statement for all Christians.

23. I was thinking generic fundie. Now I see Daddy was So. Baptist
which, while still somewhat perfectionist, is at least connected to Planet Earth. I'm really on an anti-fundie jag these days, even more than usual, because I keep hearing all this bilge about "Katrina was Gawd's way of cancelling Southern Decadence" and "New Orleans is now abortion-free" (that later from a "minister" who lives there! Whwere's the compassion for your own flock, assclown?)

Sometimes an airhead is just an airhead...

as that minister did, well, then yes, that is "hot air".

22. Good, that's a step towards getting off the Bush kool-aid
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 04:02 PM by mvd
Because she was a Bush-style fundie. I've always thought that Ashlee is prettier and smarter, though not much more talented. I do like "Boyfriend," Ashlee's new single. It's kickin', and better than anything on Autobiography. But we'll see what the rest of the CD is like. In her situation, Ashlee needs to produce something good!

I don't even pay attention to Jessica releases anymore.

29. This story has a wee bit of importance
It is good to see a Bush-style fundie become less judgmental. Shouldn't be underplayed. Of course, the Right also has their angle - she left the Lord and became a lousy pop singer, T & A actress, T & A TV star, and general annoying celebrity, all due to the corrupting influence of those godless types.
