Well, I did it...I made a doctor's appointment...
to have a complete physical. I haven't been to a doctor in over a decade. There's nothing wrong with me...so nobody panic. I just decided with all my friends gently nagging me about it, it was finally time to cowgirl up and do it.

I'm scared to death. Somebody tell me it's no big deal. They're gonna look me over and there's not gonna be a damn thing wrong with me.

1. I'm glad you're going
It's important to have regular physicals. In fact, the better you are about going to the doctor on a regular basis, the better your chances are of warding off serious illness.

Good girl!

9. I know...
I've been really lucky most of my life not to get really sick or hurt. That luck probably won't last forever. So I suppose I should get used to going to the doctor now while it's relatively painless.

7. You gonna...
KICK MY ASS?!?!?!

Seriously, I'm scared that despite the fact that I feel better than I have in my life...they'll find something wrong with me and in 6 months I'll be dead. I know...it's silly.

3. Important to do it!
Our coverage is so good ($10.00 for office visit) that I see my family practice doctor every 5 weeks.

10. I probably won't be going that often...
I used to work in doctor's offices and they make me antsy. I'm thinking once a year is probably more than enough for me.

4. Don't be a fraidy cat
Going to the doctor is nothing.

They strip you naked, poke you, prod you, and collect your urine. Other than that. It's fine, really.

Enjoy the intimacy.

12. I had my first full physical in nearly 15 years last spring
I am VERY doctor-phobic, but I finally got a physical after checking into the psycho ward for a week. It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

Just relax and enjoy the ride. It'll be over with in no time.

I hate going too. You wait there forever, for them to tell you nothing's wrong and then give you a heart attack inducing bill. ;)

You'll be fine!

18. Believe me...
even with insurance, it's that bill that scares me more than anything. It's like taking the car to the shop...you have no idea going in what it's gonna end up costing.

21. Yep
By the time I pay all the co-pays for a visit, I wonder why I'm paying for insurance in the first place!

15. It's not so bad at all!
Then again, I've gotten 15 stitches on my lip while still awake. So yeah, most things seem like no big deal after that! :hi:

But good luck...and don't even think about it!

20. Bah. No problema.
They'll poke you here, and prod you there and nag you about all the things docs nag about (blood pressure, exercise, no smoking, yada yada), then they'll pat you on your head and send you away.

22. Well...
I've never smoked. I exercise all the time. I've lost a ton of weight. I eat right. I have really low blood pressure. So I should be good to go...but I'm scared anyway.

I'll be fine. Thanks for trying to make me feel better. :)

23. I'm sure that much of this
is residual trauma at losing Andy so suddenly. Take a deep breath. The odds are better than not that you're fine.

24. I'm sure you're exactly right...
I feel fine...but I'm scared to death I'm gonna go to the doctor and they'll find something wrong and I'll be dead in 6 months. I know it's silly and irrational. But it's there anyway.

But mostly though, I just don't wanta catch any crap about not having gone to the doctor for so long.
