8. Don't just salt the water. Use sugar
Always add sugar to water for boiling corn since salt takes out the sweetness. For water, enough to boil a dozen ears, add 4 tablespoons sugar and 1 tablespoon salt. Let corn cook at a hard boil about 15 minutes.

19. 5 minutes at a full rolling boil,
give or take and depending upon the size of the cob. When you can stick a fork gently into the cob and it slips out, it done.

...

1. Bring water to a rapid boil FIRST! Then add the corn.

2. This time of the year, the corn is fresh :D - you need not boil it any longer than 10 minutes (maximum).

3. If you boil it for too long it becomes overdone and mushy.

4. Enjoy with lots of butter, pepper & salt! :D

23. Ignore these people who overcook their corn!
Water is boiling. Add corn. Turn around three times. Corn is done.

(Taught to me by my husband's gram.)

26. I put the corn in water and put on the stove on high, as soon as they
start to boil I take the pan off the heat. Boiling makes the corn turn dark yellow and hard.

30. we just throw them on the grill with no prep
turn them as they turn brown, and they're done in about 16 minutes. The hair all comes off in one pull and it is the besat corn ever, when the corn thru the husk feels soft it is good! Best corn ever!

31. Water must be rolling boil...and the corn must have been picked less
than 12 hours prior....As the corn stays off the stalk longer, the sugar turns to starch...ICK!

I won't buy supermarket corn for just that reason...who knows when it was picked..last week? ICK...I only buy mine in the Farmer's Mket...they know when it was picked, because they picked it!

FIVE minutes in that rolling boil, BTW...

:hi:
