C'mon folks! "Dobie Gillis" was Bob Denver's finest hour! |
|
"You rang?"
Shit, "Gilligan's Island" was one of the worst shows ever. "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" on the other hand, was quite a comic gem in its day.
RIP, Bob. You never once complained about being forever known as Gilligan, and for that, you had class.

3. I believe that he was single-handedly responsible for the |
|
use of "like" as a pause filler in American English. (As in, "He was, like, afraid of work.")
I'd never heard it before that show.
Anyway, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis was one of my absolute favorites. It was always slightly loopy and even ventured into surrealism at times.
There were so many great characters: Dobie's parents, Zelda Gilroy, Chatsworth Osborne Junior, Thalia Menninger, Mr. Pomfret, and, of course, Maynard.
All together, in honor of Bob Denver, let's squeal "Work!"

in Delaware County, not far from here. He seemed pretty laid-back. The Gilligan bit didn't fit him at all.

6. It's so "interesting" about some of these actors that they are |
|
not the same person in private that they are on T.V. It may sound dumb but he was a good actor.

7. I've seen only a couple of episodes of Gilligan's Island... |
|
And Gilligan annoyed the crap out of me so much that I thought if ever they had to resort to cannibalism, they should eat him first.
As for Dobie Gillis, I remember watching reruns of the show on Nick at Nite when I was younger but I don't really remember what it was about. Was it the show where he'd address the audience in the park under "the Thinker"? That's about all I remember.
