How often do you see your doctors for regular check ups? |
|
Mine:

Dentist - every 6 months for cleaning
Eye doctor - every 2 or 3 years

1. Never. Goddamn doctors always want to find something wrong with you. |
|
Except I do go to the dentist for the twice-a-year cleanings...gotta keep after the choppers.
Oh, and the Pain Management doctor.

2. Yes, I think the dentist is the most important |
|
one to see twice a year.. small cavities can become big cavities easily otherwise.

6. Yup. But going to a GP will just give you a heart attack and |
|
monstrous prescription bills, treating stuff you didn't even know you had.
I haven't gone to a GP in about 25 years, and I'm still here.

7. I just like to see how my blood pressure there.. |
|
compares with my home readings. It's useless, since my blood pressure shoots up at the office. Last time it was 148/100 at the office, and 119/78 when I got home. But my doctor's reasonable, so I don't mind going.

10. You're not the only one. Lots of people have higher BP |
|
at the doctor's office, because of anxiety.
Not to mention those damn gowns they make you wear, with your posterior on display to all and sundry...

4. I go about twice a year to my cardiologist for BP and heart and lung |
|
checkups...
Twice a year to the dentist...
Once a year for my annual grope...(pap smear)
Approx annually for the mammogram...
As needed to the optometrist...about the same as you...
Every few years to the ENT to get the wax out of my ears, and to have my hearing checked...
As needed to the dermatologist....
I think that covers it....I hope!
I want to live as long as possible...these guys and gals are helping me to do just that...

9. doctors? what doctors? |
|
No health insurance, no doctors -- I don't trust them anyways.
The few times in the past 20 years I have seen a dr. (local clinic) were unpleasant -- llloooong wait, surly staff, and hugh jass bills $$$ I couldn't afford.
I haven't been to the dentist in at least 10 years. I am just damn lucky I have good teeth -- I have never had a cavity or a toothache.
I have already decided that if I contract any kind of catastrophic illness, I would be better off if I lay down and died, just as * wants us poor fsckers to do. I only hope that it doesn't hurt too much in the meantime (and we are living in a mean time). :(

My dentist always says "your teeth look really good for not being in for so long".
I only see a doctor when I absolutely have to. That'll change when I hit 50, my pre-determined age to start worrying about my health.

13. I haven't been in 8 years. |
|
And it's not like I'm not used to doctors. I had cancer 24 years ago, so I know all about regular medical care, and going to doctors all the fucking time. I just am not a person who likes to fall too hard into a habit, good or bad.

Dentist once a year, which is plenty cause I can't afford all the crap they think I need anyway.
Yearly eye exam.
I see the GP once every two years. My mom has heart disease so I keep up with my bp and cholesterol. So far so good.
I haven't seen a gyn since my 4yo was born. I really need to take care of that.

Dentist- every 6mo for cleaning
Eye doctor- it's supposed to be at least every two years, particularly since I take Topamax which can increase the risk of glaucoma. However I've been pretty lax and am way overdue at this time.
Internist- I see her as needed. I don't have to see her for "check ups" since I normally see her several times a year for my chronic, intractable migraines and occasional other issues that arise.
Gynecologist- Annually

17. Last trip to the doctor was.. |
|
1999.... But, I did just have a couple trips to the ER.. A trip to my normal doctor wasn't possible.
Dentist was about 4 months ago. My blind ass lives at the eye doctor.
