outside...so much so that I will soon be closing the sliding glass door that sits about 7 or 8 feet from my right side...

It is wide open now, and earlier it felt wonderful to me...the room is upstairs and gets warm during the day in spite of all the terrific insulation we had installed...

It's probably in the 60's now...Nearly true fall weather..warm days and cool nights...We don't need the heat yet at night but it won't be long till we do...

This afternoon I got a message from the MD's office to call them... apparently they got the reading of the MRI I had yesterday. The nurse said the wrong day when she left the message (said Thursday instead of Wednesday) so I hope she's just confused by the four-day week, and not flustered by the most staggeringly horrific MRI they've ever seen.

Pretty sure that's not the case, but if it is, it is. Staying up late so I'm super tired so I'll actually get to sleep instead of fretting about calling them back in the morning. But I am fading, and if the deadmouse has spoiled your flirty mood, maybe I should call it a night. ;)

That's a valid complaint. Keep in mind that a lot of your classmates may not be paying for their education themselves; this can change one's perspective on the value of hard work. Also, your classmates may be gaining the "life skills" that can only be gained through the misery of . . . well, we all know what some of the regrets of college are, and some people need to make those "mistakes." Let them have their own paths, LastKnight, and you walk your own path.

Neither of you have something wrong with you. You know what you're there for, and that's enough.

Grading is an imperfect instrument, and does not always correlate well with what you actually got out of the class. I remember not doing so hot in some classes because I got really interested in something that wasn't even going to be on the test. And, as a math prof, I see quite a number of people who will take math they've already had in high school so they can "get an easy A." I put that in quotes because it doesn't always work out that way!

Somebody with your skills and intellect has an obligation to use them. Have fun and all that, but you have it right. You are there to take care of business, so do your thing. I owe nearly 50 grand in student loans, that's some serious cash, so I don't really fuck around too much. I slack off a tad, but for the most part I study and work hard to get good grades. It'll pay off. Plus, if you are preparing to do something you love all of that learning isn't just enriching, it's a blast. It took me years to gain my maturity. I was 24 before I started college. 22 before I got out of my drunken idiot phase. You're a smart guy, doing what you need to do. As I said, have fun too though. You can mix both business and pleasure pretty well, even when you have tough classes and lots of homework. Keep improving yourself and just do your thing. All of my friends are nearly 30 and act like they are still in HS, meanwhile I'm poised to do some really seriously cool things and make a good living at it in another few years.

110. it just seems that ive grown about 10 years in the last summer

i lost almost everything that mattered to me this summer; through loss of a relationship and the death of 4 friends ive come to realize the worth of a few things, and the meaning of mortality. and i dont mean to sound arrogant or anything, but it feels like i dont belong with any of my old friends, i mean my best friend who ive known since kindergarten... hes exactly a year older than me but he hasnt matured at all mentally since he was 14 (harsh, but true). its just confusing because my ultimate goal for college isnt to party, get laid, or to make friends. im here for buisness. my primary focus really isnt to recieve an education (although a close second). i more or less just want to find myself. and i think its working. it just bugs me to see people neglecting potential, but if thats what they wanna do, im not gonna tell em what to do. but at the point where they start bitching me out for taking advantage of my opprotunities is when i start to get pissed.
