Local News from my fair city last night...is the worst is yet to come....
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 08:23 AM by jus_the_facts
....here in northeast Louisiana....they showed 4 Hummer type vehicles on the news last night...painted on them was MILITARY POLICE...the news brief said our city chief of police called 'em in to *help out* the thousands who've had to move up here suddenly...oddly I couldn't find one word about it on any local news websites this morning though...maybe they're assuming riots or wanted to use fear factor tactics to quell any possible *unrest* by using that as some sort of warning to would be criminals...regardless they showed tankish looking vehicles with Military Police painted on them and claimed they were asked to come here by the Monroe PD...lookin' like the Third Reich around these parts...as things change...so they stay the same...if they think they'll be needing military police presence in light of the exedous of displaced people to this area...not a *hopeful* sign that good things are on the way for the homeless shelters in Ouachita Parish in the months to come.

With shit like this goin' down in my own backyard...my cynicism knows no bounds and I have to resign to the fact that no matter how hard we've tried to end this sort of inhumane treatment of others...the reality remains that people are most definitely NOT created equal nor treated equally...never have been...and never will be...there has to be the poor and destitude for there to be extremely rich...same as it ever was or will be...a paradox that remains to this day..unresolved.

:nopity:

Not feelin' the love and compassion much in Freeperville today in light of this *development*....guess I should feel lucky and *protected* by such activity...grateful that it's not ME they're *helping*...thankful for the blessings *I've* had that keep ME from having to suffer these poor peoples fates at present....why can't I feel all warm and fuzzy in any regard as of late...instead I'm full of loathing and fear for *humaity* with this shit happening. :(

4. i think i know what you mean
I keep thinking about how at this very moment, I am embarrassed to be an American. But I think it goes deeper than that. I thought that people - not just Americans, but all people - had more love and compassion for their fellow human beings. And now I am not so sure.

7. I'm quite sure there's not enough to go around..as they're sending...

...the evacuee's to the abandoned State Farm Corporate Operations building in the next few days....away from our civic center across the street from the police station and city hall with some showers there...to the south side of town where State Farm once employed thousands here in that 315,000sq.ft. building...now a homeless shelter with patrolling vehicles that say Military Police on the skirts of the poorest area in town...the reality of the truth in these decisions tells me that the paradox of racism...classism and fascism is alive and well and in my face...and there's not much to do but wait and see how much worst things will become for those people who deserve to go stay in the White House itself for what they've endured the past week...but they will be confined in a *State Farm* instead...oh the insane *humanity* of it is apocolyptic to me...and then depression sets in.

....in light of the vileness that permeates regardless how much I wish it didn't...no matter how much I try my damnedest to live and think a different way than what I see...it still does...sigh...as m'Dad used to tell me a LOT growin' up....wish in one hand and shit in the other...see which hand fills up faster..crude but so true.

5. Jus_the_facts, if you see a photo of one of those MP hummers
in Louisiana, would you post it or send me a PM to get my email address? I'm having some difficulty convincing some of my acquaintances that martial law is a reality now in at least one part of our country.

6. They showed a brief clip of video of them..I scoured our local news sites.
...yet couldn't find one word written about them...much less pictures of them anywhere online...but the story was aired...an irony also here is State Farm Corporate Operations just left our city after 40 years...thousands unemployed....their offices were in a 315,000 square foot building on the southside of town....they're about to move the majority of evacuees there instead of our civic center located across the street from city hall and police station...to the abandoned State Farm building located in one of the poorest sections of town...with Military Police patrols to *keep the peace*....it's seriously surreal and seriously happening before my eyes. :(
