Where are all of the insurance agencies? |
|
We all know how easy it is to file a claim with any insurance agency. (sarcasm) But seriously, where are the property insurance companies who people insured their homes with? And why haven't any stories been done on their role in the relief effort?
I assume that flood insurance benefits are the same as regular home owner's loss benefits. I could be wrong.
When our house burned down, our insurance agent cut us a check for thousands, just hours after the fire. We were also covered for hotel and meals expenses while we rebuilt.
I am not talking about all of the poor people who were not able to afford insurance. But is seems those homes on the coast of Mississipi with the beautiful views must have been fully covered.
As an aside, I did not know that I could go to the insurance company and ask for money up front. Nor did I know that my homeowners's policy covered my hotel and meals expenses. (within limits, so be forwarned) I was told by a friend who was an agent. I guess they don't like to publicize it too much.)
It just seems to me that they are being a little too quiet while the federal government spews money over the region hoping in vain to buy back any vote they can.

2. with flooding, the only option is the FEMA insurance |
|
And I would guess that most of the major damage is flood related.

glad that was cleared up. So FEMA is in charge of the flood insurance. God help us all.

5. My sister works for an insurance company |
|
She said "they" (without specifying which "they" she meant) wouldn't allow their claim adjustors into the hard hit areas of Mississippi. Also, from Atlanta they couldn't even get in contact with their agents or agencies in Mississippi to see if they were even still alive. That news is now several days old though.
