Do I need a land line for DSL service?
I am trying to order cable and I was hoping to get DSL and get rid of my home phone, but can I do that? Do they need that line?

You guys know everything. :-)

5. No, it requries your TV Coaxial cable outlet

If you do get DSL, you can still probably cancel your landline and just keep the DSL.

2. Yes. DSL is provided on a land line.
If you get cable you can get Voice Over IP, a la Vonage, and dump the land line.

6. Qwest offered, at my request, DSL sans landline.
The savings ultimately wasn't substantial and you never know when you might want a landline for emergency needs.
