how many of my DU friends watch these real ultimate fighting sports? If so, who's your favorite fighter?

1. I used to watch them.... |
|
But I haven't followed them as much since I stopped practicing ju-jitsu when I ran out of time and health insurance.
I was an original Royce Gracie fan, but I'm not sure who the new fighters are.
Is Tito Ortiz still dominating the UFC?

sat on the championship belt for a while as he renegotiated his contract. Last month he lost to Randy Couture (who was the "interim champion" in Tito's absence). Randy Couture is a 40 year-old totally fit wrestler, and he handled Tito completely.
The Gracie school is still strong, but I haven't seen a Gracie fight in a while. One of the great Gracie fighters is Vitor Belfort, who elbowed a guy so hard in the head that when the fight was over the dude looked like he got hit by an axe.
In Pride fighting (pretty much the Japanese equivalent of UFC, though its in a ring and not a cage, and you kick people in the head when they're down) perhaps the best fighter is a Russian named Fedor. This guy has perhaps the greatest striking ability in the world.

3. I've seen a few Pride's... |
|
And so far I've liked them better then UFC.
I saw Randy Coulture fight a couple times. He was really good. I've seen Vitor Belfour fight too, he was one of my favorites for awhile. He was so damm fast, but could also grapple with the best of them...
I remember the whooping he put on Tank Abbot well, that was a classic.
So do you practice anything?
I did ju-jitsu (not Gracie, but influenced by it) with some kickboxing. I won a few local tournaments in my weight class back a few years ago, but its been a long time. Like 3 years since I've been able to do it regularly.
