1. This is what happens when you're an unemployed lawyer!
How's your job going? And how's your dad?

23. It gets better
I've been an unemployed lawyer for 7 years now (after 15 years as a corporate/real estate/tax geek). I honestly don't miss it. I'd rather be mom.

26. Good Luck!!
Your posts about law school brought back lots of unpleasant memories of the socratic method and first year. I honestly can't remember International Shoe, I'll probably have the classic nightmare tonight about being unprepared for an exam.

3. It's Socratic-method withdrawal
she's missing law school so much, she's practically begging someone to grill her for an hour straight.

DeposeTheBoyKing, there are pills for that. Really, honey, get some help. ;)

But I'm just a lowly accountant....

You LAWYERS always look down on us accountants.....

8. Oh no
you have my utmost respect. My lowest grade in law school was an abomination of a class called "Accounting for Lawyers." Anybody who can understand that stuff is far smarter than I.

12. Is that one of them bright yellow books you can buy at office max...
Just kidding....

I always defer to my friends in the legal world....

We speak the same language, I think, but from a different perspective...

I loved Business Law and almost went to Law School but too many of my friends that took that route ended up doing other things.....

19. It probably should have been!
I'm blocking it out, it was such a horrifying experience. We were kept sane only by one of my classmates who always tried to argue against GAAP. Dumb fucker, that boy. Ah, good times.

24. How do you keep your ethical responsibilities seperate....
I didn't sit for the CPA or become an attorney because of the responsibility to the profession....

Which, from my understanding, took precedent even over your responsibility to your fellow human beings...

Now I see the reason and the need...

I just couldn't square it...

I gave up a lot of money and opprotunities....

But, I don't think I could have lived with myself....

But that is just me.....

20. Here you go...
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?court=US&vol=326&invol=310

And if you can get through that with any iota of understanding, you might want to seriously consider law school. That case is the bane of everyone's first week of law school. ;)

16. It's one of the first cases you study in Civil Procedure/Legal Process
It's about personal jurisdiction. I got called on by our dean (at the time) on the 4th day of law school, and I just went "Huh?" and uttered some total crap even though I'd spent two hours preparing right before class. Oh, well. I survived, as did your bro!
