double best: van morrison and the talking heads |
|
van morrison: tupelo honey
talking heads: toss up - once in a lifetime or take me to the river
(yes, there is no connection between artists selected. you should have heard the mild lounge misunderstanding when i did bowie/simon and garfunkle in a single music thread! ;-) )

In my estimation, that's Van's best period, but I also like some of the newer Irish music he's doing. What a voice . . .

5. shugah, you sure know how to brighten the heart |
|
and answer the niggling question: what has been missing in my life lately?
It's regularly playing Van Morrison's "Moondance" album and listening to "Into the Mystic" over and over again.
Talking Heads! Still remember being introduced to them via Saturday Night Live when they did "Take Me to the River." That rendition knocked me over. Already loved Al Green.
Thank you, thank you. :loveya:

We were born before the wind Also younger than the sun Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry Smell the sea and feel the sky Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic
And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home And when that fog horn blows I want to hear it I don't have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul Just like way back in the days of old Then magnificently we will float into the mystic
And when that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home And when thst fog horn whistle blows I got to hear it I don't have to fear it
I want to rock your gypsy soul Just like way back in the days of old And together we will float into the mystic Come on girl...

9. I love the ridiculous lyrics in Tupelo Honey |
|
(now, what is the subject matter in this song?)
You can take all the tea in china Put it in a big brown bag for me Sail right around the seven oceans Drop it straight into the deep blue sea
You can’t stop us on the road to freedom You can’t stop us ’cause our eyes can see Men with insight, men in granite Knights in armor intent on chivalry
She’s as sweet as tupelo honey She’s an angel of the first degree She’s as sweet as tupelo honey Just like honey from the bee
