If you could bring back up to 5 historical figures...
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 12:21 AM by fortyfeetunder
to fix this mess in the Gulf and the politicians associated with it, who would it be? And what would these people do?

I upped it to 5 because I don't know any one miracle person...and wanted to give you that option.

My five:
MLK Jr --mobilize, stabilize, the consummate roll up the hands and help people type
Robert Kennedy - leading the government
Joan of Arc - provide vision
Marie Antoinette - to give the Bushes a clue about the French Revolution
Shirley Chisholm - to be the next President.

1) Benjamin P. Judah, who envisioned the transcontinental railway, could handle the engineering.

2) Dwight D. Eisenhower, to organize the effort.

3) Ghandi, to be a voice for the poor.

4) Teddy Roosevelt, to say what needs to be said re: Bushco and their bungaling of just about everything.

5) FDR, who could stick around and clean up the rest of the mess we've been living in for the past 5 years.

9. My High Five.....
...

1) Hadrian - he understood the limits of power.

2) Heraclius - he knew how to make chicken salad out of chicken-shit.

3) Machiavelli - with this crew we're dealing with, we need someone on top of their shit.

4) William III, i.e. House of Orange - decisive and understood geopolitics.

5) Confucius - we desperately need some type of code of ethics.

I was thinking about Machiavelli as a pick also. He would be in the West Wing...Would he be the one to deal with Bush?
