I swear I couldn't neglect my cats even if I wanted to - they won't let me
It's starts when I wake up at 5:30am - those 2 furballs start meowing up a storm even though I check their bowls and theirs a bit of dry food and plenty of water left. But those 2 critters, Abbott & Evita, will not let up - ESPECIALLY Evita. I'm blow drying my hair and there she is standing on the edge of my bed meowing up a storm at me, demanding her food now (btw, they get fed right before I leave so I know they are out of the bedroom - a door that is closed while I'm at work).

I tried to tell them about how lucky they were to have a nice home in an area not prone to natural disasters but those 2 just didn't care - they want their food and they want it now.

ANyone else have cats?

1. I'm going to be a foster mom to a 17 year old red tabby.
Tiggy will be here for 6 weeks while his owners are traveling for business reasons. They are out of town from 2 to 6 weeks on every trip.

I'll have a part-time fur-ball to cuddle if my house mate doesn't kick us both out.

3. I'm almost glad I'm living in an apartment
It keeps me from going overboard on cat ownership. My place is strictly a 2 cat limit!

2. Merlin is driving me slowly insane this morning by continuously
batting at an empty printer paper package on the floor...and then looking up at me and crying piteously because he hasn't eaten in at least 20 minutes. It is tough to be Merlin...but he is not a cat. He is some species more elevated than humans even. Which wouldn't be too hard these days. :hi:

4. I had a little talk with Evita about appreciating her life
and how some kitties have to fend for themselves and the unfortunately kitties who lost their homes because of the hurricane. I was hoping she'd be a little bit more patient knowing what a great life she lives.

But she just started to meow up a storm and demand her food.

I swear she's a republican!!

6. Has she threatened you yet with another unprovoked, unjust attack
on songbirds? Then you know she's a Republican. I think Merlin is a Libertarian...he wants nobody messing with him and what is his, and he's tired of all these young kittens thinking they know where it's at. He spits upon Squee.

7. I know Abbott is republican...
he's not too bright which puts him on the same IQ level as most repukes.

As for Evita hell next she's gonna find a way to catch a damn snake or something. I'd put a bell around her neck but then I would have to be annoyed with that noise!

9. Is Abbott your gray cat?
We always joke that our gray cat Coleman is a Republican because he is such a whining selfish trouble maker. Almost tripped over him this morning because I dared to make coffee before I fed him.

13. does your cat love the printer?
my mother's cat LOVES the printer. If she uses her printer, even if the cat is comatose lying in a sunny spot, the cat runs downstairs and stares at the printer

meanwhile Jessie sits near the bathroom...begging you to flush the toilet. Strange animals I've got. :)

12. my cat headbutted me awake this morning
She was headbutting my face so hard that I almost felt like I was being beaten.

Of course, she wanted food. She always wants food. She remembers where she saw a cricket 6 months ago in my apartment, but cannot remember if she has eaten in the last 10 minutes.

29. I think my cats go to Code Red when I run out of cat food
I keep showing them the bag of Authority Cat food I keep in the storage closet but I've never fed them (It was a free bag of PetSmart's own brand that I got when I adopted Evita but I feed them Royal Canin).

21. My female cat Toona
doesn't like my wife too much, but sometimes Toona bites her nose at all hours of the night to wake her up, whether she has food or not. She typically doesn't want anything, she just wants some attention.

25. My cat Winston
paws at me all night. If I close the bedroom door, he cries outside of it. I wake up with scratches all over me. Then I get up and Esmeralda has to lay on me. It doesn't matter if I am sitting or laying down. Then 2% (my black and white kitty) starts crying and I have to go hold him like a baby and tell him what a good kitty he is. I know some people have cats they never see. I am not one of those people.

27. I think Abbott was traumatized by his first family
I'm definately the 2nd owner but his first family abandoned him so I need to hold him several times a day and reassure him that he has a permament home here. He's so fricking insecure.

Evita was from a ferral colony so even though she would never want to be outside again she lives like she's still in the Ferral Colony of one. Unless I get her brush out then she'll come over to me!

33. Quinn and Althea don't meow at me that much.
Althea will climb up on the bed and purr at me until I at least move my hand outside the covers, at which point she'll heat-but my hand until I start petting her.

At that point, Quinn has to come in and check out what's going on. This usually involves standing on my chest and purring while I pet Althea (Quinn isn't too big on petting).

They'll both just sit there and be cute at me until I feel guilty and get out of bed.

After that, they are in a running competition to see who can be the first to hasten my demise by tripping me and causing me to bang my head into a counter after which they can feast on my remains.

Having not succeeded thus far in killing me off, they usually settle for their 1/2 can each of high quality kitty food (accented with a shared bowl of dry food that tends to last about 3-4 days each time I fill it).

34. My cats like to go out different doors...
Two of them will only leave by the back door, and two will only leave by the front door. When they want to come inside, the whole thing is reversed; the back door cats will only come in the front door and the front door cats will only come in the back door. They know they can get away with these ridiculous things because I'm just a big marshmallow and they're so cute and fuzzy. And they lay on their backs and do that tummy dance when I'm really mad.

35. Nah
I don't have any cats. I DO have (currently) 5 furkits, however.

The big lummox, Garibaldi, always has to pick on me. He's at least 20 lbs, now, and he kneads me unmercifully, which makes me mad. His sister, Delenn, gives me kisses all the time. Jessica, my oldest, is diabetic and needs her insulin, and allows me to clean her eyes out at the same time. She is always demanding food, both her own, and just about ANYTHING on my plate. She only "loves" me when SHE wants something. Jean-Luc is the most sedate, but he doesn't like to be picked up at all. He turns rigid when you try to do it, but he's the first to get on the bed and sleep curled up next to me. The new kid on the block, Oliver, sits in the front room window and meows to me when I'm going out. He really, really wants to be an outdoor cat, but until I get a place of my own, it ain't gonna happen. He loves to stretch out on the desk between the keyboard and me, and he aggravates me when he sleeps with his head on the mousepad so I can't work. But he has the glint of mischief in his eye that speaks volumes!

So, no, I don't have cats--I have kids. :D
(And yes, now that I have the new camera, I will soon inundate DU with fresh pictures of everyone!)
