Wow! What did Ten Years After do to Norm Coleman.
Edited on Wed Nov-12-03 12:42 PM by Norbert
From his Coleman for Senate web site (2002).

In Norm's younger years, he was a roady for Ten Years After, a one-hit wonder band during the 60s. Norm helped set up the stage and held the bass amp during concerts.

Ten Years After a one-hit-wonder group? They were fantastic. TYA was my first concert and Alvin Lee could outdo Nugent without breaking a sweat.

Whats a roady anyway? I had a couple of friends who were roadies (plural for roadie).

1. Did Norm sell his soul to the right wing to get in the Senate?
He sounded like he might have been...*gasp*...LIBERAL in his youth!

10. He was a staunch liberal up until 1996, when he switched parties.

When he was mayor of St. Paul, he was a very liberal guy. A prominent Minnesota Dem. He campaigned for Wellstone and everything. He just did a complete turnaround up around the time he was trying to get an NHL franchise awarded to St. Paul.

2. Roadies Move The Gear
Short for Roadcrew, they are the guys who do all the heavy lifting, set up the lighting rigs, stack the PA, move the amps, set up the drums, etc., etc., etc. Lots of work, not that much pay. Those guys earn their keep!

We had a crew of about 6 in one band i was in. They didn't want much money, just the right to be part of the band's inner circle. One guy i trusted enough to be my keyboard tech. He would move all the stuff, set everything up, plug in all 30 cables, set up the mixer, amp, and speaker system, and have the first song programs all set to go. I'd just have to walk in and play! Man, he was good!

5. I'm sorry.
My tongue was in my cheek when I asked "What's a roady." I've never seen the word spelled like that (with a "y" instead of an "ie").

3. How Many Hits?
In any case Alvin Lee was/is a super guitarist and should never be linked in any way to that other guy you mentioned.

6. I always thought "I'm goin' Home"
was the highlight of Woodstock. I didn't know much about them until I saw the movie. They made an instant fan out of me.

What a downer though. My first rock concert (except when I saw Hermins Hermits at the Ohio State Fair) and the possibility exists a young Norm Coleman was goofing around on and off the stage.

9. Really? You Think So?
Huh! That's not the word i would have used.

The live album "Undead" always sounded as sloppy as sloppy can be. It was so sloppy that it liked punch. Same with the famous "Goin' Home" from Woodstock.

I never thought much of those guys. Just too much sloppy, mindless noodling and i don't like the "doodley, doodley" type of guitar playing.

TYA just never did it for me, ya know?

12. I take it you don't care for TYA Professor
They weren't the best, but they didn't sound that bad, especially once the brain lube started kicking in.

13. Brain Lube! Good One!
And you take it correctly. Everytime i see Woodstock, i just think "People could see Santana, and think Alvin Lee is the hot guitar player?" Different strokes, i guess.
