Who has been extra nice to their kids and pets this week?

Everytime I go to the store I am buying my idiot dog a treat or toy. I have let my two teenagers leave all of their stuff all over the place, sleep to the last possible minute before they go to school, buying them soda and baking cookies. God, I am just thankful I have them to enjoy everyday.
The kids are like "Mom, why aren't you yelling at us?" Katrina has so taught me to appreciate what I have and what is important.

YAY! That's more than a week without a death!

(the chemistry of my fish tank had gone totally fucked, and I didn't catch it anywhere near what could be considered an ethical amount of time, and now I've finally gotten it back under control)

7. I've killed more fish with tap water...you have to use distilled or

run it thru a filter,,, the chlorine will kill them

14. I use that bitchin' water conditioner stuff that rips the chlorine out

as well as heavy metals and other shit you don't want in a tank. I've never had a problem with the water being bad for the fishies (except for the good water they had which I let go to shit over the summer while I was traveling 12 days out of every two weeks).

18. I look at my poor pets and feel horrible, knowing that

the government couldn't care less about pets just like mine. I know government doesn't care any about people either, but at least they are making an effort to save them.

21. I've been teaching my bird how to fly.

No, really.

All the parrot behaviorists say not to let your pet birds fly because 1) it can be dangerous for the bird and 2) it gives them attitude problems.

Gabby seemed bored with life and I decided not to deny him what nature intended. :shrug: He's eighteen and has never known how to properly fly. He experimented with it when he was about a year old with nearly catastrophic results. He used to smack into walls and say, "Ow, that hurts." When he knocked over a heavy dog trophy and got pinned beneath it, I said, "That's it!" grabbed the scissors and gave him a trim.

Now that he's eighteen, I've decided to try to teach him how to fly in as safe a way as I can. I've been working with him for a few months now. Last night he practiced landings on my bed and got the feeling of true lift for the first time. :)

Pretty good for an old bird. :D
