Every single channel on my TV is showing the same thing...ARGH!!!!!! |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 07:11 PM by VelmaD
I don't have cable and EVERY channel is showing the concert for hurrican relief. Now I've got nothing against raising money and I got nothing against this particular concert. But Jesus h christ can't I have SOMETHING...ANYTHING...else to watch just in case maybe I don't feel like a concert tonight.

I do get basic cable so I do have a few more options, but it was kinda funny when I clicked through five channels in a row and they were all showing the same concert at the same moment! I've decided to watch it, though, 'cause I like some of the artists.

I mean, I truly appreciate these artists coming together and spending 10 minutes singing us a ditty but after the Kayne West incident I realize we're dealing with a bunch of scripted schlock that appeals to most of this country but not me.
You could see from the U2 performance that they're performing in an empty concert place. Why not sell tickets, why not allow us to see the interaction between the artists & the rest of us. Instead we're seeing a scripted act and it only took about 10 minutes to be old.
I'd rather spend the day at an all day concert like Live Aid/8 where we can all come together and raise awareness and see a really great show.

11. I would have loved to go and see tomorrow night's concert |
|
but that's probably another empty hall event.
And because of Kayne West it's going to be scripted to the hilt with a major delay

They thru this together faster than most other relief. Putting together a concert could have taken a long time, and these people are trying to get shit done now.

They're trying to get shit done but it's still empty |
|
wouldn't have killed them to open that concert place and allowed some locals to come in and enjoy the show. There's a major difference between a musician in front of a live audience and one that's just there in front of a camera. Randy Newman's song was good but the next 2 songs had about as much passion as a zit on my face.
I've seen enough concerts to know that it's the singer performing to a live audience and receiving the admiration back from that audience that gives a performance life.
There is no life tonight - just emptiness

|
several years ago. I loathe the cable companies and with 300 channels there still wasn't anything on worth watching 99.9% of the time. Plus cable news shows make brain cells commit suicide.

Seriously I'm not a fan...and I like Paul and lot better when Art's with him.
This kind of concert is just not my cup of tea and it would have just been nice to have had other options.

I've already taken two loads of donations down to my local Goodwill for the evacuees being housed here in Austin. But I don't have to watch some concert to support my country...so don't even go there with me. All I'm saying is that I would have liked some other option on my tv...why did the concert need to be on every channel given there are very few other times when they all show the same thing at the same time?

I'm sorry to read you're offended...and I was surprised to see that from you.
Nonetheless..
The program on several channels had been planned and promoted for a friggin' week. If the person who bitched about didn't know that, and just so happened to tune in, so be it, but I think it was worthwhile to take up most airwaves to raise money for the cause. Maybe the poster doesn't have beyond basic cable, so my suggestion to look at a DVD or do something else for an hour or two was relevant.
