Another great Blues man gone |
RIP Gatemouth Brown. Details are a bit sketchy at this time, but it seems that Gate had lung cancer and refused treatment, preferring instead to live out his days and hoping for some kind of miracle. Sadly, it never came. He has been found deceased at his neice's house, where he was staying. Damn it! Too many GREAT Blues Men are leaving us in the past few months. Clarence "Gatemouth" Browm, R.L. Burnside, Son Seals, Jimmy Trapp. Too damn many. RIP Gate. You will always be remembered in this household. I can only suggest that we buy as much material as possible from these masters of the great American art form known as The Blues. Forgive me, I am just sad to hear this, even though it was expected. Gate was a nice guy as well as a talented musician. I have had the great fortune to meet some of these men and they are (were) almost always gracious. Mr. Brown was no exception. Incidentally, I do not know if there is an official news service link for this yet, but I got it from a Blues forum where I hang out at, along with a few well known Blues musicians. It is sadly, true.

1. So sorry - he had evacuated to TX, -- had been ill |
for awhile... the report I read last night (can't remember where) said he hated having to evacuate (a terrible stress anyway, but very very hard when you're sick)..I was sad he couldn't pass in his home...my condolences, Bluz.
