2 months. Ann Arbor. M GO BLUE or whatever.
Football Saturdays are a fucking nightmare. And of course, I never keep track of when the home games are, so I just avoid it every Saturday.

|
Just starting their annual choke early this year. At least I won;t get all ticked off after they get out to a 6-0 record only to lose 8 out of the last 6!!!

|
We were in for a LONG year. And I know now that ALL I'm going to hear from the media is how YOU JUST CAN'T TRADE AWAY MOSS AND BE A BETTER TEAM... blah blah blah.
Vikings football is a chronic infectious disease. I wish I had been innoculated at birth.

I now get more pleasure from the Redskins losing than from the Vikings winning!!!
The NFC Central is going to be horrid this year...probably one of the worst divisions of all time...
The Lions are gonna take the division with a record no better than 9-7
The Vikes and Packers will come in around 6-10, maybe 7-9
And the bears will be something like 3-13
Gonna be bad...for me...just filler till the next baseball season!!!

11. Ah, yes, spoken like true Minnesotans |
|
And people wonder why we're such fair-weather fans up here?
Well, gee, if you can somehow piss away season after season, even though you've got the talent, and the hype, and the FANS behind you, well, you must be the ViQueens!
Damn, at least the Wild will be back this year.

13. It's not that we're fair weather fans. We're just wise to their bullshit. |
|
We know better than to buy into ANY media hype because it ALWAYS turns out for the worst.
Look at what's happened so far:
1. T-wolves = Picked by MANY to be the world champions but end up missing the playoffs
2. Twins = Picked by many to both WIN the central division and go to the World Series but will end up missing the playoffs
3. VIkings = Picked by many to handily win the the North and by SOME to go to the Super Bowl = Improved Defense that was literally WORN DOWN by having to be on the field the entire game due to the fact that our supposedly EXPLOSIVE offense was the worst offense of the week.
Being a Minnesota fan is a SENTENCE. And I'll keep coming back for more.

They at least bring home the bacon occasionally...and a division championship in baseball is a much bigger deal than a division championship in Football...

But you have to admit that they choked big time this year. They sucked at what made them a great team in the past...small ball. This team does not have a hitter on the team that it can count on for more than about 70 RBI's. Justin Morneau is the Pedro Serrano of the Twins organization. Sure, he can hit the ball about 3 miles to the upper deck........when he actually hits it. Most often it's a strike out or a weak DP.
They REFUSE to execute. Man on third with one out = strike out, ground to third, infield pop out etc. They NEVER advance the runner to home. If the Twins want to win, they HAVE to do this type of stuff and they haven't all year.
It's been an incredibly frustrating year to be a Twins fan. I can look forward to next year though. Our rotation may be unstoppable. Now, if Terry Ryan could just get a god damned hitter. Just ONE hitter.
EDIT: That was my 2000th post. Figures I would waste it on the Friggin' Twins.

22. Yeah I think they are back where they were in 1999 and 2000... |
|
Loads of talent, just young and not used to playing together...
Now that Mauer, Morneau, Bartlett, Ford etc have another year under their belt they should be much better. Plus they will be stacked at pitching, and still have a great farm system. Also next year, the pressure will be off...everyone will be picking the Indians and White Sox!!!
Twins definitely need to open up their wallet and get one good solid Ortiz style hitter!!!

|
I've been pisssed off this entire year at the Twins. They have so underachieved that I've been just sick listening to or watching them. But now that you've got me thinking about next year with our lineup: Radke (I'm still a supporter), Santana, Silva, Baker, Lariano....ooooh, that's about as good as it gets.
If Terry Ryan could just score us a big bat DH. He doesn't even need to play defense. Just a big bat.
Dammit, now I can't wait for next season.

They aren't the Vikings...so that makes it not seem so bad...
And they have had a good stretch these last few years...and like you said Ryan did a great job locking up the pitching staff for the next few years...I'm actually pretty excited about next year.
And, I'm such a baseball nut, I'll watch them even when they suck!!

So had to subscribe to the baseball package on cable to get their games!!!
I go to alot of minor league games too, and it is fun having the Nationals here. No one will be able to replace the Twins though (except perhaps Bud Selig...if he had his way)

It's a good deal for when you aren't in the area. You can listen to John Gordon and Dan Dazzle Gladden if you want to on WCCO. They always make me feel good in the early summer time.

17. That's an even better description |
|
We really must be masochists in this state. We put up with the same shit, year after year, somehow thinking that this year just might be different.
And of course, it never is.
It almost makes one want to move to a place where the teams win once in awhile. Like Green Bay.
Almost.

The reason the Green Bay fans are so loyal is because there isn't jack shit to do in that town other than cram into those bleachers.

14. You see...where the Vikings are concerned...there is no such thing |
|
As a fair weather fan. In order to be a fair weather fan, there has to be fair weather occasionally. The Vikings have never provided it...always heartbreak and disappointment.
We have been foul weather fans all our lives...a much more oppressive burden!!!

20. Being a Vikings fan is like letting people kick you in the nuts repeatedly |

And continuing to let them do it because you think, for some reason, it might not be as bad the next time.
