Poll question: Why do celebrities marry and divorce so often? |
|
I was just obtaining my surfeit of celebrity gossip for the day, and this question popped into my head.

2. They can afford it, and they're in a weird profession that takes them |

away from home for long periods, and shoves them intimately together with people for those periods. Plus, one is dealing with artistic and also sometimes self-focused temperaments, which aren't necessarily the best for a long-term stable relationship.
Though as a percentage of overall population, I don't know if celebrities really do this more than anyone else. Most celebrities, I gather, have stable, good marriages. But we don't hear about those, because they're boring.

4. I've often thought the same--is the ratio that much greater with celebs? |
|
When it comes to multiple marriages, I suspect they beat the odds there, but as for divorces, I don't think it's that far off the average.

3. No incentive to work out their differences |
|
There is little incentive to stick out the rough patches - they can financially afford to run off at any moment, and have literaly a crowd banging at the door begging to be the next spouse.

5. Do they really divorce more often? |
|
The rate among the general population is about 50 percent, so perhaps the issue is that celebrity divorces are just more public.

8. I don't think they marry and divorce that much |
|
more often than "regular" people but whatever they do is under a microscope so it seems like more of a big deal. I think if the rate is higher its because they have to live their lives under a microscope plus often there are long separations when one half is filming a movie somewhere or touring in concert or whatever.

9. When the drama, the excitement of |
|
love (lust, really) is over and what's left is the every day humdrum that is real life.
Many are so addicted to the 'rush' of performing that they look to fill the void in between performing with other 'rushes', lust being one of them.
Or mixing up fantasy and reality. Life isn't scripted.
