I witnessed a horrible crash yesterday.

--Ryan Briscoe's car flips into the air during the PEAK Antifreeze Indy 300. He was taken to a hospital with head and neck pain.--


Everyone in the stands thought for sure that this guy was dead. He was airlifted to a local hospital. It was pretty frightening.

Before the race even started, a skydiver who had a rough landing about 100 ft. in front of where we were sitting was taken to a hospital as well. Talk about your harbinger of doom.

1. Was that the one where his car split in two?

I saw footage of a car crash on the local news yesterday. It was the damndest thing....the force of this impact apparently split the car in two.

I was wondering why the guy wasn't killed, also. That's remarkable that he came out of that wreck alive.

2. Actually, I'd say it split in three.

By the time he came to a stop, the engine was lying in the middle of the track, the rear end was near the entrance to pit road, and the front of the car, including the cockpit and driver, came to rest on the infield.

While he was scraping along the wall, he shot flames for about 200 feet.

It was quite spectacular.
