It always inspires the same joke from people, who think they're the first to have thought of it, but, it's an icebreaker, at least. :)
Other common names I've come across that still give me a quiet giggle:
Bubba Papermaker Dick Condon

10. actually the joke of my name was his mother's pronunciation of it |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 02:28 PM by Kire
my name is Erik, not a commonly made fun of name, but she had an accent and pronounced it "Eh'dik", and so my name was Er-dick for most of my childhood. last name Ander-butt.
I saw him at my 10 year reunion in '03. He told me that I was still violently reacting to his teasing in High School. I find that hard to believe, but it is possible.
I still fucking hate getting teased. My brother was ruthless.

Luckily, the joke my name inspires is pretty genteel in the scheme of things. No one's ever gotten ruthless with it.

And then happened to catch the original version of the movie, with Michael Redgrave (I think) and Gene Autry. Very interesting movie for Gene Autry to have done, I was surprised....

16. a female colleague's name was "Poopak" |
|
common in her country, not common here. By the time she was 20, however, she was immune to the jokes.
I think I might have changed my name. If my real name was rather scatalogical in another language, I'd definitely consider that language's version of "Jane".

Just to add another one. I think it's really common.
You can giggle if you want to though. It's OK. I won't think you're a horrible person. I laughed at Dick Trickle's name.
