I think I spotted a neo-Nazi in the parking lot the other day, help...
Ok, so I think I spotted a neo-Nazi in the parking lot at Kohl's the other day, but I'm not 100% on this. Allow me to describe the subject...

Black coat in the middle of summer, black pants, kind of a bad mohawk hairdo, but it was long, not a buzz cut. Everything was black except for.... red suspenders which hung from under his coat. I checked for the trademark red shoelaces, but his boots were covered by his long black pants. So, I believe this person was a neo-Nazi because of the red suspenders. I know neo-Nazis are fond of wearing suspenders on their waistbands, but I won't swear to this guy being one without verification.

Is the above described person a neo-Nazi? He looked kind of scrawny and unless he was armed, I'm sure my Jewish self could have cleaned his clock. Just curious though.

1. Sounds like a punk/goth person.
I don't think long mohawks are popular with neo-nazi's. (although the only way I would know is if they had a swastika tatoo or something really obvious)
You ought to google neo-nazi and see what they look like.

3. I know a guy that wears nothing but black
and typically a long black leather trench coat.

Well, except for the whitey-tighties hanging out of his pants now and then :rolf:

7. I knew a guy like that too.
He sat next to me in astronomy class in high school. He was kind of funny, definately non-offensive (not a Nazi), but was generally stoned most or asleep most of the time.

4. My brother. who remains missing, wears a long black leather coat
black biker boots, a leather cowboy hat and leather pants and a black t-shirt that has 81 on it...in August. His hair is down to his shoulder blades, he's 6' tall and wears mirrored sunglasses and growls. I fear him.

I know "88" is a neo-nazi symbol...

11. Thanks...
Same idea as the 88. I wonder who came up with it first, the nazis or the bikers...

...most of my friends in high school who dressed that way wrote really bad poetry...but they were still my friends, not neo-nazi's.:)

13. Careful about judging a book by it's cover. My hubby has a shaved head,
goatee and generally looks very ex-marine or narrowed minded bigot, especially when he is riding his Harley. He is, however, the most gentle open minded person you will ever meet.

14. Ex-Marine?
Was he a Marine? If so he would be offended by that term. (try former Marine) Also, most former Marines don't do the facial hair thing out of habit.

15. God No, very anti-war. Dodged the draft for Vietnam & was an
Organizer for the Anti-war movement in the late 60's/early 70's. A totally gentle nice guy. The only thing I've ever seen him get Crazy mad about is this administration.

16. And you said something about judging a book by its cover????
Short hair/shaved hair does not a former Marine make. I am a former Marine and I am not at all ashamed of my service. I joined the service because somebody has to be ready to defend our country. As the old saying says "freedom isn't free".

You infer that Marines like war. Do cops like crime? Do firemen like auto accidents? Do doctors like cancer?

If you saw me on the street you would never guess I was a Marine.

21. As a matter of fact I have known several Marines and find them to
be the ones who have the least to prove and thus are not prone to be violent. (never met a female marine, that I am aware of). To be a Marine, however, one would have to know in their heart that they can kill another person during war. I don't believe my husband could do that.

Know several others as well. Enough shaving in the Corps to last them a lifetime.

18. Does not sound like one
It's been a few years, but...

The red braces as indicator of neo-Nazi skinhead membership generally went with white boot laces. The red laces (in Germany anyhow) indicated a left wing, socialist, even Communist skin. Bomber jackets could be found on either. Nonpolitical (trad) skins looked about the same, only without the white boot laces.

I'd think that identifying this kid as a Nazi because of his suspenders is really jumping to a long conclusion. None of the rest of what you've described about the kid sounds like a neo. The ones you have to worry most about aren't going to be visible, anyway.

23. That is just silly.
Red suspenders mean someone is a neo-nazi? I hope you don't "clean my clock" if our paths ever cross: I have a shaved head (well, 3/4's shaved, the top is "skinhead" by default).

Personally, I'm more afraid of the neo-Nazis I see on TV all the time than the ones that frequent department stores...
