Who could have imagined that a hard drive would need to be backed up. Certainly noone in my administration.

1. Why on earth would you want to back-up a hard drive?

As a Corporate freelance tech, you would be amazed how many times I've gotten a call from a business owner asking if I can get data off of a shot hard drive.
Yes..I can..but it costs about 600 times what a simple DVD back-up disk would have cost...Go figure..

3. If it's really important

there are data-recovery companies that can read really amazingly bad disks. They're expensive though.
