:bounce: Yesterday when I returned to my sister's house, my new home thanks to the bitch Katrina -- I had a care package of happies waiting for me.

JimmyJazz sent me cookies, baby powder, a book to read (to keep my mind alive) some hair care products (to fight the bad hair days that I face) and a note of love and support. :hug:

I just can't tell you all how happy I was to get my care package - :bounce: :bounce:

It's the little things folks :bounce: :-)

And its the support of JimmyJazz and so many here that makes things easier.

Everything is reliant on an address - FEMA paperwork, insurance communications, Red Cross, yada yada - my mail box is attached to a wall that was blown away, so setting up a mail address was vital. Then the mail wasn't running for the last 2 weeks but now it is - so YES!! - things are looking up!

He is trying to adjust - he left with his clothes. Everything he had remains in New Orleans and he has no idea of when he will be allowed back into the city and what, if anything, he will find.

I think DU will help him, it is just hard to get folks to understand DU's possibilities and strengths.

Sometimes it is hard for me to understand or fathom the love here, I am just so grateful. :grouphug:

DU can throw you a 'house-rebuilding/refurbishing' party.

I had a house burn down in 1991 and friends gave us a house-cooling party. Helped us out and warmed our hearts that we had so mant cool friends.

Please let us know what you need later on. Right now people are focused on helping those affected by Katrina, but maybe we as a community can help you when you really need it.

Edit: By my focusing comment, I meant most are donating to those affected by Katrina now, but let's keep in mind we should also help those in our little 'community' here later on when they finally get settled again. And that should include all those DUer's who have been affected.
