How can you tell if sashimi is bad? |

I mean before you eat it. I thought the salmon was too mushy and now I'm worrying about it.

Salmon smells really ripe when it has turned. The mushiness could mean nothing - there are some very fatty parts of salmon and if it were cheaper sushi, they would use the fattier salmon, hence the mushiness...
Tuna usually turns brown when it has turned. With whitefish its a little harder to tell...
