Students must pay to stop MMMBop
Maybe this is cruel and unusual punishment ;-)

Schools across the country are pitching in to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

While there are lemonade stands and bake sales from Connecticut to California, some schools are finding more creative vehicles.

Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, Pa., has a fun fundraising program called "Stop the Bop."

Suggested by a few members of the student council, the school is playing Hanson's 1996 hit "MMMBop" through the loudspeakers before classes begin, between periods and during lunch. The idea? Annoy students into donating; have them pay to stop the music.

1. Cruel and unusual punishment?
I'm reminded of the SNL skit where people forced to listen to this song became mindless drones.

2. Good idea, but I would've used something Country myself.
Perhaps having to listen to ANYTHING by Kenny Chesney. If I didn't have a dollar, I'd probably kill myself.

3. One of the radio stations here in KC raises money every year w/
"We'll play anything for money" day. YOu can also pledge large amts to have them stop playing something heinous...consequently people will request something just to raise the stakes.

I've paid for a few songs on there.

(on edit: 101 the Fox-classic rock station in KC).
