For the lounge, with love :)
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 03:06 PM by Taverner
Oh Sherry

You should've been gone
Knowing how I made you feel
And I should've been gone
After all your words of steel
Oh I must've been a dreamer
And I must've been someone else
And we should've been over

Oh Sherry, our love
Holds on, holds on
Oh Sherry, our love
Holds on, holds on

But I want to let go
You'll go on hurtin' me
You'd be better off alone
If I'm not who you thought I'd be

But you know that there's a fever
Oh that you'll never find nowhere else
Can't you feel it burnin' on and on

(chorus)

But I should've been gone
Long ago, far away
And you should've been gone
Now I know just why you stay

(chorus)

Oh Sherry, our love
Holds on, holds on

8. Now now now Miss Jimmy
Oh Sherry was one of Perry's solo projects....not to be confused with the equally exquisite repertoire by the aforementioned Journey...

10. That was his none Journey days.
That was Steve Perry all the way.

Now this is Journey.

Lying beside you
Here in the dark
Feeling your heart with mine
Softly you whisper
You're so sincere
How could our love be so blind
We sailed on together
We drifted apart
And here you are
By my side

So now I come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms

Living without you
Living alone
This empty house seems so cold
Wanting to hold you
Wanting you near
How much I wanted you home

But now that you've come back
Turned night into day
I need you to stay

So now I come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms

14. Hmmm...Steve Perry - I heard he was a pretty nice guy...
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 03:41 PM by southlandshari
He also had two monster hits on his own. You nailed one of them, California. Here's the other, in case anyone loves this embarrassingly sappy stuff as much as I do!

"Foolish Heart" (Steve Perry)

I need a love that grows
I don't want it unless I know
With each passing hour
Someone somehow
Will be there
Ready to share

I need a love that's strong
I'm so tired of being alone
But will my lonely heart
Play the part
Of the fool again
Before I begin

Foolish heart
Hear me callin'
Stop before
You start fallin'
Foolish heart
Heed my warnin'
You've been wrong before
Don't be wrong anymore

Feelin' that feelin' again
I'm playin' a game I can't win
Love's knockin' on the door
Of my heart once more
Think I'll let her in
Before I begin

Foolish Heart
Hear me callin'
Stop before
You start fallin'
Foolish heart
Heed my warnin'
You've been wrong before
Don't be wrong anymore
Foolish heart

Foolish, foolish heart
You've been wrong before

(keyboard solo)

Foolish heart
Hear me callin'
Stop before
You start fallin'
Foolish heart
Heed my warnin'
You've been wrong before
Don't be wrong anymore
Foolish heart

Oh foolish, foolish heart
You've been wrong before

Foolish, foolish heart
Foolish heart

15. This thread needs a HOT LOVERBOY INJECTION
(who were Canada's answer to Journey, in a way)

Everyone's watchin' to see what you will do
Everyone's lookin' at you, Oh
Everyone's wonderin' will you come out tonight
Everyone's tryin' to get it right, get it right

Everybody's workin' for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance
Everybody's goin' off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, Oh

You want a piece of my heart
you better start from the start
you wanna be in the show
c'mon baby let's go

Everyone's lookin' to see if it was you
Everyone wants you to come through
Everyone's hopin' it'll all work out
Everyone's waiting to hold you out

Everybody's workin' for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance, hey yeah
Everybody's goin' off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, Oh

You want a piece of my heart
you better start from the start
you wanna be in the show
c'mon baby let's go

Hey

You want a piece of my heart
you better start from the start
you wanna be in the show
c'mon baby let's go

You want a piece of my heart
you better start from the start
you wanna be in the show
c'mon baby let's go

19. I remember that song too well.
I had a crappy tape recorder and I held it up to the radio so that I could tape it.
Nothing like a ton of background noise to ruin a song.

20. You just brought back incredible memories for me!
Oh jeez - I had all but forgotten about the long hours of my youth spent holding a manual tape recorder up to the radio, usually on Sunday mornings during America's Top 40 with Kasey Kasem, to tape the songs I loved.

I even used to tape the audio of TV shows like The Hardy Boys and all of the Charlie Brown holiday specials on that damned tape recorder.

I admit it. I was then, am now, and apparently will always be - since I love Steve Perry to this day - a grade A, bonafide, goofy beyond belief geek!

:D

23. Oh yeah...
OMG! You are really giving me the memories...

Dear Kasey-

I was vacationing in NYC after just going thru a horrible breakup with my high school sweetheart.

I decided to take a trip to mend my broken heart.

I was in Central Park where I met Joel, I was sitting on a park bench and he came along. It was love at first sight!

We are no celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, can you please play " Just the two of us?" It really fits us and our loving relationship.

Sincerely,

Tammy

*********************************************************************
And then Kasey goes " Tammy, here is your song, for you and the love of your life Joel"

BARRRRRRRRRFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!~!!!!!!!

36. So did we.
It was what poor kids did. Margaret Cho used to do a routine where she talked about doing that. She said that on every song she recorded you could hear her mother screaming at her in Korean in the background.

I kinda of miss those days sometimes.

31. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
Steve Perry in this house....We love to listen to Journeyas well. My son, who's 18 mos old, loves Steve Perry. He can be pitching a total fit but when he hears Steve's voice...I kid you not...TOTAL SILENCE. He just listens and tries to sing w/ it. So cute!

Our fave song by Journey: Faithfully

Highway run
Into the midnight sun
Wheels go round and round
You're on my mind
Restless hearts
Sleep alone tonight
Sending all my love
Along the wire

They say that the road
Ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line
It's been you and me
And lovin' a music man
Ain't always what it's supposed to be
Oh, girl, you stand by me
I'm forever yours
Faithfully

Circus life
Under the big top world
We all need the clowns
To make us smile
Through space and time
Always another show
Wondering where I am
Lost without you

And being apart
Ain't easy on this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy of rediscovering you
Oh, girl, you stand by me
I'm forever yours
Faithfully

Whooa, oh-oh-ooh
Whooa, oh-oh-ooh, oh
Whooa, oh-oh-oh, oh-whoooooa-oh
Faithfully
I'm still yours

I'm forever yours
Ever yours
Faithfully

But did you guys and gals realize that Journey has sold over 45 million records and has 10 platinum records? I knew they had some good songs, but I didn't realize that they were that huge. They must have been doing something right.

And regardless of whether you like Journey or not, you have to admit that Steve Perry has some pipes.
