How many auto-didactics do we have here (self-educated; unschooled)?
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 04:28 PM by DerekG
It has been my experience that many of my peers perceive college to be a job-training center and/or a four-year pajama party (screwing, drinking, etc); while many of the wisest people I've had the pleasure of speaking to have never set foot on a campus (except to attend some guest lecture). All they needed was a library card, or a used bookstore. I admire this.

Auto-didactics, chime in.

3. I left school in grade nine. During my career I have completed
college level certification courses in a number of disciplines. I am currently the GM and VP for an international management consulting firm.

4. I went to college - but learned a lot more afterward
through reading, etc., than I ever did in school.

5. That was one of Stephen King's provisos
In a recent college address, King advised all graduates to do three things:

1. Thank their parents.
2. Donate at least 10 percent of their income to a charitable cause.
3. Never. Stop. Reading. (There are a hell of a lot of dummies out there with degrees.)

6. I taught myself the law.
That's what they tell us in law school: "You teach yourself the law. We teach you how to think."
