Guess what I found in my change from the store!
A dime from 1916! Does anyone have any idea how much it is worth? Know where I could find that info out?

Thanks!

7. That's a find!
That dime is 90% silver. They don't make 'em like that anymore. In fact the gov't has succeeded in yanking virtually all silver coins (dimes, quarters, half dollars, silver dollars) from circulation since it stopped making them in 1964.

8. did you check for a mint mark?
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 10:31 PM by flowomo
the 1916D (Denver mint) dime is wortth a bundle:

Mercury dimes are also very common coins and generally are worth the value of the silver in the coin (07234 troy oz). For example, at a silver price of $3.50 per ounce, they are worth about 20c. The series has several rare dates: The 1916D worth $250 in the lowest grade found, the 1921 and 1921D worth about $15+ in average circulated condition, and the 1942 over 1, which is worth more than $200.

11. It's got an "S" on it.
So it's worth considerably less, I do believe.
