"That's Not A Gray Tiger Tabby!"
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 08:44 AM by ProfessorGAC
That was the first words, in stereo, out of the my wife's and my mouths when we picked up the kitty yesterday.

The kitten is actually a black/buff tiger, which is still perfectly fine, but we already had one of those, so we were looking for a gray tiger like the one we had who died of old age a couple years back.

We never for a moment considered leaving without her. The color isn't that critical to either of us. So, home with us she went!

Greta is a super cutie, with a salmon colored nose and gorgeous tiger markings around her face and neck. The doggie is already used to her and she's not afraid of the big beast! That didn't take long.

The two older sisters are getting used to her, but cats don't adapt quite as quickly as poochies. I figure it'll take 4 or 5 days. That's been our experience, anyway.

My wife is gonna let her wander the living room (there's a barricade that'll keep her limited to that room) today. Baby steps for a baby cat.

Edited because i spelled the kittie's name wrong. Clumsy fingers!

3. Sorry. No Pix Yet
We got home kind of late and i was too lazy to get the camera out. I also have to find someplace to post the pix so i can share them here at DU.

But, i will do that.

10. Question: What caused the color confusion?
Did you pick her out online and the color looked different, or ???

BTW, congratulations on your new little darling.

12. Nope. The People At The Shelter Said She Was A Gray Tiger
My wife asked about kitties for adoption. She said she wanted a shorthair tabby, and we would prefer a gray tiger, since our Sophie was one, and she died two years or so ago. The young woman told her that they had one!

So, we said we'd be there the next day. Well, she wasn't gray. She has some gray fur, but all black & tans do. But, i would guess less than 10% of the fur is gray. The rest is black and tan!

No big deal, really. We wanted gray, but she's a super cutie and has a wonderful disposition. The dog is already used to her and the vice versa is pretty close.

I'll let the Lounge know if anything interesting happens during the assimilation. (She will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.)
