march in Veterans Day parade, due to anti Iraq stance! Can you believe this crap? And it was at the request of the POLICE? WTF? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=216210&mesg_id=216210

(and I don't mean that I think the story is false, I mean pulling vetys out of a vet parade, because they are against a war, is bullshit).

2. In 1973, there was a march to protest the inauguration of Nixon |
|
It was a big march, by all accounts, one of those that even the police who are paid to underreport protest crowds, just gave up and acknowledged it was too big to accurately count.
People who were there tell of a moment early on, when all the people standing by the Washington monument looked up, and coming toward them, as far as the eye could see, was this SEA of people, in wheelchairs, on crutches, limping on new prosthetic legs, even some on wheeled cots, IV's and all, they kept coming, and coming, the VVAW - Vietnam Veterans Against the War.

3. I was there, and in uniform... got interviewed by NIS a few days |
|
later. Coincidence? I think not.
It was a very moving moment, one that I will never forget.

4. Maybe that's why they don't want them this time |
|
Another moving moment was when all those flower children and Black Panthers and SDS "guards" and Socialist Workers and everything else you can think of that is not known for its love of militaria, parted like the Red Sea to let them pass, and SALUTED.
It might be hard to keep that off TV, and Lord knows, the regime doesn't want people to see recently wounded vets in large numbers under a peace banner :)

6. This is much worse than the Nixon regime. |
|
I was at head-cracking protest as a new VVAW dues-paying member (a year in the 'Nam) in 1972. At least we were there. The neo-Nazis have learned well. Keep the rabble away, especially if they have direct knowledge! That's us. We know war. The Bu$h cabal does not. Fuck them and defeat them!

7. Veterans for Nuclear Disarmament aren't allowed to march in... |
|
the Royal Canadian Legion-sanctioned Remembrance Day Ceremonies, but they always form and march immediately behind the parade (to wild applause, I might add...)

10. As a Vietnam war protesting VFW |
|
member of our local VFW club years ago I was declared "Not Welcome".
Lot of the bar room warriors even at the VFW never saw action, but they are all for war and killing.
