I think it's a myth that anyone makes a living on ebay, but maybe you know otherwise ...

edit for spelling

1. I think if you have a store on ebay, you could do reasonably well.

2. Well, I do ok, but ebay is only part of what I do.
I do not know anyone who makes a living JUST on ebay. When combined with several other things and never taking a day off and working 14 hours a day you can do it.

I've been an unemployed, desperate tech worker and artist for a year now and I'm still eating but that's about it.

The ebay ship sailed a LONG time ago... back before they raised their fees 300%.

6. I knew a guy in college who did
Granted, though, this was back in like 2000 (or 1999), and he was a college student.

He used to travel around to rural auctions and buy old Coke bottles and that sort of thing and sell them on eBay. It netted him like $1000 a month or something -- which was plenty to live in a college town.

7. not any more
that's yrs in the past

for a few good months i was able to make a few thousand a month but the market is dead now

a couple of friends made a living there full-time for a couple years but again not any more

9-11 & anthrax dude killed it, with the price of shipping going skyhigh

it's all the big stores now

you can't compete w. that

they even have banner ads so someone might be searching for an item you have, a banner comes up & takes them to the Big Store's site

ebay is dead for real ppl

sorry
