1. My niece used to work at Williams-Sonoma in the Bay Area |
|
She was told to remove her nose ring because the customers wouldn't like it (this was in a more conservative area inland from SF).

2. Yeah, I guess when you're buying a skillet... |
|
That nose ring can distract you from deciding on a color

Used to have my belly button and eyebrow pierced too but removed them when I had my daughter. But I live in MO.

I have some plastic retainers to wear when I'm working, in court, on interviews, etc.

5. I thought about the nose ring and had one for one night. |
|
All of my piercings were self-done. I got drunk or high and did them to myself. The tat is professional.

Personally I'm pretty sick of the whole tattoo trend and I wish it would just go away. Sadly, no one seems to care about my views on fashion/style. :(

I teach at a Cal State, and I'm surrounded by trendy undergrads. If I never see another tattoo, trucker hat, tiered skirt, or pair of Uggs I will count myself blessed... (I would add belly rings to the list, but my wife has one. :))

11. It's just everyone expressing their individuality ... as a uniform group. |

Most tattoos look like someone sweaty sat on an old newspaper or had a 4-12 year old scribble them with an indelible marker.
In my circle of friends, I've seen thousands of tattoos over decades and in all that time, I've seen perhaps half a dozen people who have done it right.
