I graduated from the University of North Dakota and went to law school at Lewis and Clark law School in Portland. Now THAT counts.

Although some schmuck, when I was visiting the school, told me that L&C was known as the "harvard of the west". I thought to myself 1) what the fuck does THAT mean and 2) If there were such a thing, that place would NOT be it. lol.

17. I decided against applying to the Ivies
If I had wanted to do that, I would have had to take the SAT II subject tests, which I feared that I'd do poorly on since my high school was not really college prep oriented. That would have also cost more money, finding another Saturday that didn't conflict with a track and cross country meet, and required travel (didn't offer the test in my town).
I really would have only had an outside chance of getting in since my one shot at the SATs was only just over the 90th percentile. My high school did not offer AP classes or even honors classes. On the plus side though, through Ohio options program, I had taken a college class each of the semsters my junior year and 2 classes each semester my senior year. They were at an accredited 4 year college and I received As in them and probably could have gotten a good recommendation from my political science professor from my junior year and psychology professor my fall semester senior year.
Overall though, I wanted to go to a smaller college anyway. I also wanted a college that was more undergraduate oriented and a non division I college since I wanted to run intercollegiately. I applied to 3 competitive liberal arts colleges and was accepted at all 3. I went to the one that offered me the best aid package and it turned out to be a good fit.

They wanted a $400 deposit, and neither I nor my folks could afford that. It might as well have been $4 billion.

I kept the letter, though, for a really long time.

I hated school and knew college would just be a long party and serious waste of my parents' money. So what did I do? I joined the Electrician's Union and went to electrical school. Ironic, no? I did get 1350 on my SATs though.
